Meet Poppy
Poppy was rescued from county and brought to AZSDR, she arrived as a shell of a dog. She was too scared to meet your eyes, uninterested in toys, and unable to go outside on her own. The world felt overwhelming. Over the course of a few months with her foster family, little by little, she started to trust.
Poppy truly thrives with other dogs and will need a canine companion in her forever home. She has formed a strong bond with her foster sister, Winnie, and the two love to play together. Other dogs help her feel more at ease.
She is looking for a very quiet, low-activity home where she can continue to grow at her own pace. A predictable routine and a calm atmosphere will help her feel secure. While Poppy may never be the kind of dog who rushes to greet you at the door, she is making steady progress and is beginning to show that she wants affection on her terms, and in her own time.
